Licensing & Terms of Use

Premium Icons für moderne Interfaces — clear terms, no surprises.

Every IconSphere icon pack is governed by a single, transparent license agreement. Whether you're building a startup dashboard, a print brochure, or an internal tool, this page explains exactly what you can and cannot do with the assets you purchase. Last updated: November 12, 2024.

What's Included

License Types

IconSphere offers three license tiers, each scoped to your team size and deployment context. All tiers grant perpetual, royalty-free rights to the downloaded SVG, PNG, and Figma files — you own the files, not the copyright.

Starter

Single-Developer License

Covers one named developer (e.g., Anna Müller) and one end product. Ideal for personal projects, open-source tools, or freelance deliverables for a single client. Includes access to the Core Pack (1,240 icons) and the UI Essentials Pack (380 icons). Priced at €29/month or €249/year.

Team

Team License (up to 10 seats)

Covers up to 10 named developers and unlimited internal products. Suitable for small agencies and in-house design teams. Includes all Core, UI Essentials, and Extended Packs (2,800+ icons total). Shared Figma library sync enabled. Priced at €79/month or €699/year.

Enterprise

Enterprise License

Unlimited seats, unlimited products, and priority support with a dedicated account manager (e.g., Marcus Weber). Includes every current and future icon pack, custom icon requests (up to 50/year), and white-label redistribution rights for branded design systems. Custom pricing — contact licensing@iconsphere.io.

Where You Can Use Icons

Commercial Use

All IconSphere licenses permit commercial use without additional royalties. You may embed, render, or distribute icons as part of a larger product or service. Below is a non-exhaustive list of permitted use cases.

Web & SaaS Applications

Use icons in responsive websites, dashboards, and cloud-based platforms. Examples: a project-management tool like TaskFlow Pro, an e-commerce storefront, or a SaaS analytics panel. Icons may be served via CDN or bundled directly into your build pipeline.

Mobile & Desktop Apps

Embed icons in native iOS/Android apps, Electron wrappers, or compiled desktop binaries. The license covers app-store submissions, sideloaded distributions, and internal enterprise deployments. No per-download fees apply.

Print & Physical Media

Use icons in brochures, packaging, signage, and marketing collateral. A furniture startup like NordWood Living may use IconSphere icons on its product catalog, in-store displays, and trade-show banners under a valid Team or Enterprise license.

Client Deliverables

Freelancers and agencies may include icons in work delivered to clients. The Single-Developer license covers one client project; the Team license covers multiple concurrent client engagements. The client does not need a separate IconSphere license.

Giving Credit

Attribution Requirements

Attribution depends on your license tier and deployment context. We keep requirements minimal so you can ship fast.

Single-Developer License

You must include a visible credit line in your product. Acceptable formats: "Icons by IconSphere" in a footer, credits page, or about dialog. For web projects, a link to iconsphere.io is preferred but not mandatory. The credit must be legible and not obscured by overlays.

Team License

Optional attribution. If you choose to credit us, the same "Icons by IconSphere" format applies. Many teams add the credit to their design-system documentation or internal style guide — we appreciate it, but we don't enforce it.

Enterprise License

No attribution required. You may use icons without any visible credit, and you may rebrand them as part of a proprietary design system under the white-label clause. If you'd still like to acknowledge IconSphere, contact your account manager for co-branding options.

For open-source projects, attribution must appear in the repository's README or a dedicated ATTRIBUTION.md file. Include the IconSphere logo (available in the brand assets pack) and the text: "This project uses icon assets licensed from IconSphere (iconsphere.io)."

What's Not Allowed

Restrictions & Prohibited Uses

To protect both our designers and our customers, the following uses are explicitly prohibited under all license tiers. Violations may result in license termination and legal action.

Resale & Redistribution

You may not resell, redistribute, or relicense IconSphere icons as standalone assets or as part of a competing icon pack, template library, or UI kit. Examples of prohibited behavior: bundling icons into a "Premium UI Kit" sold on Envato, listing individual SVGs on a marketplace like Creative Market, or offering them as a free download on GitHub. Icons must always be used as a component of a larger, transformative product.

Logo & Brand Marks

IconSphere icons may not be used as the primary element of a company logo, brand mark, or trademark. You may incorporate an icon into a larger logo composition (e.g., as a decorative element or pictogram), but the icon itself cannot constitute the recognizable identity of a brand. If you're unsure, send your concept to legal@iconsphere.io for a free review.

Offensive & Illegal Content

Icons may not be used in connection with hate speech, harassment, adult content, or any material that violates applicable law. This includes modifying icons to convey offensive messaging or deploying them in products designed to deceive, defraud, or harm users. IconSphere reserves the right to revoke licenses for violations of this clause.

License Sharing & Seat Exceeding

Named seats cannot be shared among additional team members. If your Team license covers 10 developers, an 11th developer using the same library must be added via a seat upgrade. Sharing login credentials or distributing downloaded files outside your authorized team is a breach of the license agreement.

Questions about a specific use case? Email licensing@iconsphere.io and a member of our legal team (currently headed by Dr. Sarah Klein) will respond within two business days. We prefer clear conversations over enforcement.
