Why IconSphere + Sketch

Built for the way you design on Mac

The IconSphere plugin lives natively in Sketch's plugin menu. No round-trips through a browser, no manual drag-and-drop. Every icon imports as a fully editable Sketch Symbol with proper layer naming, overfill-safe artwork, and auto-traced variable-width strokes.

Native Symbol Integration

Every icon arrives as a Sketch Symbol with a clean layer hierarchy. Swap icon styles in bulk by changing the symbol override — your entire board updates instantly. Supports monochrome, duotone, and filled variants out of the box.

Shared Library Sync

Push the IconSphere library to your team's Shared Library with one click. Designers on macOS Sonoma or later can reference icons from any Sketch file without duplicating assets. Version tags keep everyone on the same icon revision.

Batch Export at Any Scale

Select 50, 500, or 5,000 icons and export them as SVG, PNG@1x, PNG@2x, or PNG@3x in a single pass. Configure naming conventions, trim whitespace, and set a custom viewBox — the plugin handles the rest locally on your Mac.

Keyboard-First Workflow

Search by name, tag, or IconSphere ID using Spotlight-style fuzzy matching. Press ⌘ to insert, ⌥⌘ to swap style, ⇧⌘ to open the library panel. Designed for designers who live on the keyboard.

Auto-Update on New Releases

When IconSphere publishes a new batch — like the Q3 2024 "Data & Analytics" pack with 120 fresh icons — the plugin prompts you to pull the update. Your existing symbols stay untouched; new icons appear as additions.

Zero-Dependency, Fully Offline

After the initial download, the entire icon database lives in the plugin bundle. No API calls, no internet check, no cloud account required. Works on air-gapped Macs and behind corporate firewalls.

Getting Started

Install and use in under two minutes

Follow these steps to get IconSphere running inside Sketch 98 or later on macOS 13 Ventura through macOS 15 Sequoia.

Step 1 — Install the Plugin

Download the .sketchplugin bundle from the section below. Double-click it to install, or drag it into Sketch ▸ Plugins ▸ Install Plugin. The bundle weighs 38 MB and unpacks to your ~/Library/Application Support/com.bohemian.sketch/plugins/ folder.

Step 2 — Open the IconSphere Panel

Go to Plugins ▸ IconSphere ▸ Open Library. A floating panel appears with a searchable grid of all 4,800+ icons. Filter by category (Navigation, UI Controls, Social, Data, etc.), stroke weight, or visual style. Click any icon to preview it at 24px, 32px, or 48px.

Step 3 — Insert Symbols or Push to Shared Library

Select icons and click "Insert as Symbols" to place them on your current artboard. Or click "Push to Shared Library" to register the entire pack with your team's Sketch library. Once synced, every team member sees the icons in the Manage Libraries dialog.

Step 4 — Batch Export for Handoff

Select the icons you need for development, open Plugins ▸ IconSphere ▸ Batch Export, choose your format and scale, set the output folder, and hit Export. The plugin generates clean, minified SVGs with semantic IDs and a ready-to-import index.json for your design-token pipeline.
